Monthly Challenge - Card in a Box

We have started a monthly challenge and I'd love to invite you to join us. For the month of October our monthly card challenge is to make a Box Card - also called an Explosion Box Card. You will see several versions online and varying instructions. I used the inspiration of Meg Loven's video you will find here. If you prefer photo tutorials, there is a good one here on Splitcoaststampers - Pop-Up Box Card Tutorial

For my first attempt (yes, I plan to make more, these are a lot of fun!) I chose to use the Dragonfly Garden Bundle on a Blackberry Bliss card base. Even though it looks complicated, the card is easier than you think to put together.

Starting with a half sheet of cardstock (8 1/2 x 5 1/2), score down the center at 2 3/4 inches, then in the other direction score at 2, 4, 6 and 8 inches. That part is easy enough to remember. Then a few simple cuts and you are on your way!

That's the hardest part. Go ahead and watch Meg's video for the rest of the details. Here are more photos of mine closed (2 versions), looking down on the layers, and showing the supplies I used.

I am also delighted to share photos from 3 of my stamping friends, and their cards are amazing! I would love to share YOUR creations too! Find my post on Facebook and add yours to the comments :-)

First up I have Donna Winters' card - this adorable Halloween Box card.

You can see they both did a better job at decorating ALL the surfaces! I will try to follow their lead on my next try :-D

Next up I have this beautiful Christmas card from Kathleen Medina (and a special thanks to Kathleen for the suggestion of this card format!)

And last but certainly not least is this card from a friend that I received for a previous birthday - while not StampinUp products, it is so fun - full of my favorite flowers, sunflowers.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will give this card template a try, and that you will share your creations with us all!

While a couple of my supplies I used are retired, you will find a full list of clickable items below.
